Greed often pushes people to commit unseemly acts in pursuit of coveted money. The crafty old millionaire Joe McTeague understands this very well. He has no children or direct heirs of his own. But there are a bunch of distant and close relatives circling around him in a flock in the hope of snatching a tasty morsel from his uncle’s inheritance. The old man plays with them like a cat with mice. He hires a young, pretty nurse, Molly Richardson, and clearly takes a liking to her. There is confusion among the relatives. Molly is a direct and obvious threat to their plans. We must act!
