Former MI6 operative Michael Mason lives as a recluse with his dog on a small, secluded Scottish island, hiding from his past. Periodically, his former colleague, along with his niece Jessie, visits him by boat, bringing supplies. One day, during a storm, the boat capsizes; Jessie's uncle dies, but Michael manages to save Jessie, who sustains a severe leg injury. Realizing that the leg cannot heal without medicine, Mason ventures to the nearest town on the mainland, where he is spotted by MI6 agents. Soon after, a special forces unit lands on the island where Michael and Jessie are located.
