The beautiful Apollonia came from New Orleans to conquer Minneapolis. Besides the fact that she's damn pretty, she sings and dances pretty well. At the First Avenue nightclub, the girl met a talented musician, whom everyone simply calls Baby. He is incredibly talented and just as lonely. The kid is sure: it is much more difficult to live in this world than in the other world. His family is uneasy, things are also difficult in the club, but wonderful music flows from the Kid’s tormented soul, and in moments of despair he resembles an exposed nerve.
