Description

Spain, 1944. A group of rebels fights the fascists in the mountain forests of northern Navarre. Ofelia, a 10-year-old lonely and dreamy girl, moves with her pregnant mother Carmen to the military camp of her stepfather Captain Vidal. Vidal is an arrogant and cruel officer in Franco's army who must clear the area of rebels at any cost. Ophelia, captivated by fairy tales, discovers an ancient abandoned labyrinth not far from her house. The fairy takes her to the center of the labyrinth, where she meets Faun, the owner of the dungeon. The Faun claims to know her true destiny and her secret purpose. It turns out Ophelia is the missing princess of a magical kingdom, who has been searched for by her father for many centuries. The Faun offers her the opportunity to return to the magical kingdom. But first, she must pass three tests before the full moon. Nobody should know about this. Time is running out—for both Ophelia and the rebel squad. Everyone will have to face hardship and cruelty on the path to freedom.
