The film tells the story of a group of British pensioners who decide to “retire” to a less expensive and much more exotic India. Having bought into the advertising of the newly renovated Marigold Hotel, in anticipation of an absolutely fantastic vacation, they arrive at the place of their dreams and discover that the picture is far from the rosy picture that their imagination painted. However, this, albeit rather negative, experience forces them to change and understand one simple truth: you can find love and start a new life if you let go of your past.
