Description

New York, 1945. At a jazz orchestra concert in a nightclub, Jimmy, who has returned from the front, persistently but unsuccessfully tries to meet a girl named Francine. The next morning, they run into each other again in the hotel lobby, where she is looking for a friend, and he is trying to get another extension on his payment for accommodation. His extension is denied, and Jimmy flees, pulling Francine into a taxi with him. During their conversation, it turns out that he is a decent saxophonist. Almost against her will, she ends up at Jimmy's next audition...
