Description

St. Louis. 1903 Alonzo Smith, a successful businessman, lives with his wife Ann, daughters Esther, Tootie, Rose, Agness, son Lon, a capricious grandfather and a maid. Daughter Rose flirts with one gentleman at home and corresponds with another who has left for college, and Esther is engaged to a boy living in a neighboring house. When Alonso gets a promotion and needs to move to New York, which none of the family members want, trouble begins.
