Gangster Buddy Israel agreed to cooperate with the FBI and testify against his mafia cronies. The head of the mafia has awarded a large reward of a million dollars for his life, and Buddy is in real danger of losing his life even before the trial begins. The protection of Israel is entrusted to two FBI agents - Messner and Carruthers, who will have the difficult task of protecting an important witness from hired killers. But the agents' work is complicated by the fact that Buddy himself is not used to sitting within four walls and stubbornly strives to appear in crowded places and attract everyone's attention.
