Info
Harold and Maude
Harold is the son of Mrs. Chasen, a wealthy woman who pays no attention to him. Suffering from depression and lack of friends, he stages elaborate but ridiculous suicides, which make no impression on his absent-minded mother. Fascinated by death and all its external paraphernalia, Harold himself drives around the cemeteries around the town in an old hearse. At two funerals in a row, he meets Maude, a 79-year-old concentration camp survivor who is as fascinated by life as Harold is by death. Free-spirited, she is the direct opposite of the solemn and important Harold. Nevertheless, they become best friends, and she instills in him the desire to live, to spread his wings, to enjoy his short stay on Earth. As time passes, they have some fun and crazy adventures together, and their friendship blossoms into love—much to the concern of Harold's mom.
