Hussar Ballad
A historical anecdote, successfully and appropriately told, will always find grateful listeners, and even more so, spectators. The story of a cornet girl who wants to defend her fatherland on an equal basis with men was happily remembered by playwright A. Gladkov, embodied by him in the comedy “A Long Time Ago” and filmed by E. Ryazanov in 1962 - for the 150th anniversary of the victory over Napoleon. Everything worked out well in this film vaudeville: a familiar plot, replete with adventures, disguises, intrigues, and a wonderful one, using characteristic genre models - romance, ballad, hussar song - music by T. Khrennikov, and a stellar acting ensemble.
