1963, near Yokohama. Umi Matsuzaki's father, a ship commander, died 10 years ago during the Korean War, when the girl was very young. While her mother is away, the girl has to run the household, in particular, remember to raise the flags every morning - this is the rule her father set in order to see from the sea that he is expected at home.
