The near future. Construction of the massive Delta solar power station in low-Earth orbit is nearing completion. During a sudden proton storm, communication with Earth is lost and the electronics malfunction. Engineer Maxim Bortnikov, working in outer space, fails to find shelter, crashes into a station unit, and becomes stuck in a helium storage tank. When he comes to, his AI assistant Anna informs him that out-of-control helium containers will crash into the sector in nine minutes.
