Strange energy waves dislodged the Moon from its orbit, causing a total solar eclipse on Earth. Human life is in danger. Doctor Zarkov persuades American football star Flash Gordon and the lovely Dale to make a desperate jump into hyperspace with him - to the planet Mongo, from where destructive energy waves emanate.
