The story takes place in the near future, when a swarm-like race of aliens called Mimics launch a ruthless attack on Earth, pulverizing major cities and destroying millions of lives. The armies of Earth will join forces to make a final stand against the hordes of aliens, knowing that they will not have a second chance. Lieutenant Colonel Bill Cage had never been on the battlefield until he was thrown into the thick of battle, unprepared and poorly equipped, virtually doomed to death. Within minutes, Cage is killed, but he takes the alien's life with him.
