Description

5th century BC e. The ambassador of the Persian king Xerxes (Santoro) arrives in the city of Sparta, where King Leonidas (Butler) rules, offering to surrender the city without a fight. The proposal was sound - the countless army of Xerxes was moving towards Sparta, crushing everyone in its path. But Leonid did not want to kneel. Even despite the disapproval of the city council, Leonid decided to fight. Having gathered 300 selected warriors who were ready to die for Sparta, he advanced to meet the Persians. The narrow Thermopylae pass was chosen for the battle, in which the numerical superiority of Xerxes' army did not matter much. There the Spartans showed that it was not in vain that they devoted themselves to the art of war from birth.
